When I first saw a trailer for The Watch, I was pretty excited. Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Richard Ayoade. Written by Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg (who did the screenplay for the VERY funny Goon, which was only on ppv and limited release but was a fantastic movie) Directed by Akiva Schaffer, of The Lonely Island fame, and the movie Hot Rod, which I feel is a very under rated movie. You have a very talented group of people from top to bottom here, and expectations were pretty good going in.
What actually happened was me spending over 90 minutes waiting for the funny to actually start. Ben Stiller is given nothing to attempt to be funny with, Vince Vaughn pretty much is Vince Vaughn in every movie he's has ever been in, throw in an alien invasion, and you have what mounts to a fly in the soup. Its dreadfully slow, every joke seems to be forced improv. I laughed once during the entire movie, and maybe cracked a small grin another time. It just doesn't get funny. Ever. This has been out long enough that what I have to say is full of spoilers, continue at your own risk.
I'll start trying to get this going by talking about The Dark Knight Rises. Christopher Nolan's final film in his Dark Knight Trilogy.
During my initial viewing of this film, I seemed to like it. But as I got home and started to think about it, I started to pick it a part in my head. From day time chase scenes that change to the middle of the night between edits, to Alfred just up and leaving Bruce, which is something that goes against everything Alfred swore to do, things just felt sloppy and out of place. Bane once again turns out to be a lacky instead of the true villain that he's supposed to be. The handling of the breaking of Batman's back, an iconic comic scene is almost laughable, and there just wasn't enough Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. Also, one thing I can not stand is a movie bringing ideas to the table, and not sticking to its convictions. If you are going to kill a character, stick with it. I read a line in another review that sticks with me right now. This movie had more false endings than Return of the King. I felt like the movie was trying to insult my intelligence by trying to make me believe that Bane was the son of Ra's Al Ghul, The last act of the film made no sense to me. You have two large groups of people, one side extremely heavily armed, the other side, not so much. What happens? The heavily armed side just decides not to fire their weapons. Some motivations in this movie made no sense, not to mention nobody is happy at any point during this film.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

One thing that is supposed to set me apart from other sites that review movies, is that I don't have an agenda. I don't have the connections that a lot of other sites have, I don't get to interview the directors, or cast. I'm just a guy given a voice by the internet that maybe ten people read. That being said, I can say that I liked Transformers, and I also liked the Transformers 2 IMAX version. No, these are not movies that I watch over and over again. There were multiple eye rolling moments in the second film, especially some of the horrific attempts at comedy, but they were fun, summer popcorn action movies. We are now at Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which should be the last Michael Bay Transformers film, and I am here to tell you, it is BY FAR the best of the series.

This isn't the easiest review to write, because I've always felt that the first Cars movie was the bottom of the barrel for Pixar. I just couldn't get into the world, or even really the characters. In a way, the world creeps me out. So when watching Cars 2, I had to check my brain at the door, and just watch the show, and not try to figure out if the machines killed all of the people, or why the cars need gas, but eat and drink, then I started to remember a phrase from the intro of my favorite TV show. "Just repeat to yourself its just a show, I should really just relax."

The Hangover was one of those comedies that catch you off guard. I went to the original just expecting a few laughs and it ended up being one of the best of the year. Now comes The Hangover Part 2.
I wasn't sure how they could make sequel, but you find out early on that they made the exact same movie.

First, I will admit I am a junkie for J.J. Abrams, with the exception of Mission Impossible III. So I went into this expecting to love it, and I did. Every lens flare moment of it. This is the best movie of the summer so far, that I've seen.
One thing I noticed while in line, or sitting in the theater waiting for the movie to start, was that nobody really knew what to expect. Half of the people thought it was a monster movie, even possibly Cloverfield 2, although I can't imagine too many people are running around NYC with a super 8 camera these days. A few people were expecting horror, others expecting E.T.
What the film actually turns out to be, is a total throwback to Spielberg movies of old. A small town drama, with a pinch of adventure and alien thrown in.
